25th May 2018: DR. JONATHAN HICKS - WALES AND THE FIRST AIR WAR, 1914-1918

A famous local author/historian who really needs no introduction. Dr Hicks presents his new talk.

This talk is preceded by the society AGM at 6.30PM.


29th June 2018: DON LLEWELLYN - THE BRAINS BEHIND THE MOB

Llewelyn Morris Humphies a.k.a. ‘The Hump’ - A hitherto relatively unknown valleys boy, now acknowledged as having had an incomparable and hugely influence on organised crime in America. His corruptions of judges and politicians knew no match. Don (who gave us the popular talk on the Llandow air crash researched and produced the programme ‘There was a crooked man’.


27th july 2018: NEVILLE EVANS - INSPIRATIONAL WELSH SCIENTISTS OF HISTORY

An entertaining look at their achievements. His last talk, in 2014, was hugely popular and entertaining.


28th September 2018: COMMANDER PHILIP UNWIN (RET) - S.S. GREAT BRITAIN

Commander Unwin is attached to the Museum of Bristol Docks, which celebrates this grand old lady of the seas - his knowledge of I.K. Brunel’s wonderful feat of design and engineering is unmatched.


26th October 2018 : JOHN SHEEN - 5 BOYS AND A PASTY

An early to mid century meander down memory lane - a look into everyday Welsh life of times gone by - with John, who is the uncle of famous actor Martin Sheen and a raconteur in his own right.


30th NOVEMBER 2018: TREVOR FISHLOCK - THE DAVIES SISTERS

The Welsh author and broadcaster on the philanthropic sisters who donated their wonderful art collection to the museum of Wales in Cardiff.


25th JANUARY 2019: DEAN POWELL - THE BLACK AND WHITE ACTOR

The intriguing and unexpected life of Welsh actor Glyn Houston (to be confirmed)


22nd FEBRUARY 2019: STEPHEN ROWSON - THE GLAMORGAN CANAL

A fascinating look  at it’s history (to be confirmed)


29th MARCH 2019: ROGER JAMES - WHEN ROLLS MET ROYCE

Their fortuitous meeting has a place in the hearts of many a motoring enthusiast.
